Spring garden design & coaching

maple bloomHappy March!

Longer days. Frosty mornings. Peas & radishes planted with fingers crossed. Robins singing their hearts out. GARDEN PLANNING.

Grab a notebook and let’s work through your big garden questions. Maybe you need a general vision for your garden but aren’t ready to tear into it; perhaps you’re looking for ideas to personalize and spice up an inherited landscape; or maybe you want to start a few veggies or a little orchard and want help siting beds and trees. A garden coaching session can address design questions with broad strokes and set you on a path toward more informed DIY gardening. I can also walk you through a local nursery to point out plants that would work for your space.

A garden coaching session is a time to ask questions and get expert advice on a wide range of topics in your garden. I bring my knowledge of landscape design, horticulture, sustainable practices, styling, proper site choice, soil amending, weed control, pruning, and flower & vegetable growing. This is offered on an hourly basis at any time of year, and can be customized to address broad or specific questions about your garden or landscape. If you’re interested in more in-depth landscapes design, I offer an introductory consultation package for $275.

My gardening style leans toward low-water and minimal maintenance in favor of lush, hardy growth that provides year-round interest. I also use a holistic, organic gardening approach which I will encourage you to explore too. What could be better than watching your yard come alive with birds and native pollinators as they find a new haven?

I believe that everyone has a place in the garden, and I love to help people find the confidence and skills that allow them to dig in and truly appreciate their piece of earth. This is the essence of gardening to me: passing along knowledge and helping one another to grow a better garden. Garden coaching sessions also make great gifts!

Other services available from Hazel Landscapes & Design include:

Landscape & planting design; Flower cutting gardens; Summer bouquet subscriptions and floral design; Garden styling (think: backyard wedding or dinner party!).
